PRINCETON, N.J. - A number of outstanding individual performance and a school record in the 4x100-meter relay helped LIU Brooklyn men's track and field to a team title at the IC4A Championships this weekend. The Blackbirds, who entered the week ranked sixth in the Northeast region by the USTFCCCA, scored 60 points as a team, dominating America East champion Albany (41.5 points), Patriot League champ Navy (40) and Atlantic 10 champion George Mason (39) to produce the program's first title at the regional event.

Mikhail Williamson sprinted to a first-place finish of 39.60 in the finals to break the school record of 39.91 set last season. The time also placed them in the top 10 in the East Region and advances the group to the NCAA East Preliminary Championship in Jacksonville, Fla., on May 28-30.
In addition to his membership on the relay team, Rodney was victorious individually in the 400-meter dash. In lieu of running the 200-meter dash, in which he is ranked fourth in the region and seventh in the country, the Canadian extended himself to the 400 and posted a time of 46.43 to better Albany sprinter Jason Tomlinson by just over three-tenths of a second and take home the gold medal.
Also taking home first place in an individual event was junior
Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme, who raced the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 50.69 to win by nearly a second. Teammate
Alistair McLean finished the finals in eighth place and ran a personal best in the preliminary heat of 51.75 to qualify for the NCAA Preliminary round in the event.
Dukes was the top qualifier through the preliminary round of the 100-meter dash, and finished second in the event with a time of 10.57 to earn eight points. Also finishing second was the 4x400-meter relay team of Rodney, McLean, Petit-Homme and sophomore
Adam Walker-Khan, who ran to a time of 3:06.98 to place 19th regionally.
A trio of jumpers also performed well at IC4A's, as sophomore
Adam Walker-Khan finished third in the long jump to earn six points for the team. Senior
Kemar Lewis closed in fourth place in the high jump after clearing 2.06 meters, and senior
Amir Armstrong registered a triple jump of 14.23 meters to rank seventh. Lewis, Walker-Khan and Armstrong are all expected to compete at the NCAA Preliminary Championships.
All individuals who rank in the top 48 in their respective events will qualify for NCAA Preliminary Championships, as well as the top 24 relay teams in each distance. The list of qualifiers will be revealed in the coming days.
