BROOKLYN, N.Y - The LIU Brooklyn men's and women's track and field teams head down to Florida for the 2015 NCAA East Regional Outdoor Championship in Jacksonville at the University of North Florida from Thursday, May 28 through Friday, May 30.

Six men and one woman qualified for the championships in individual events, while the men will also compete in two relays. The Blackbirds head into the meet coming off of a win at the IC4A championships, defeating America East champion Albany, Patriot League champ Navy and Atlantic 10 champion George Mason to produce the program's first title at the regional event.

Junior Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme will start off competition for the Blackbirds on Thursday with the 400-meter hurdles. Petit-Homme is seeded 13th with a time of 50.69, a career-best. He earned Second-Team All America honors last season in the event, and won the title at the 2015 Northeast Conference championships. Senior Alistair McLean will also compete in the 400-meter hurdles, and is seeded 28th with a time of 51.75, a personal-best.

Senior Brendon Rodney is the top-seeded athlete for the Blackbirds, coming in at fourth on the start list in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.27, a program record for LIU and the seventh best time in the country in 2015. Rodney has advanced to the NCAA Championship the last two seasons in the 200.

In the field events, seniors Kemar Lewis and Amir Armstrong and sophomore Adam Walker-Khan will represent LIU Brooklyn. Lewis, who earned a trip to the NCAA Championships last year after placing 10th in the high jump at the regional meet, is ranked 22nd in the 2015 with a mark of 2.11m.

Walker-Khan and Armstrong will both compete in the triple jump. Walker-Khan, the NEC champion in the event, is seeded 39th with a mark of 15.35m, which he earned at the conference meet. Armstrong is ranked 48th with a distance of 15.23m.

Rodney, senior Mikhail Williams and juniors Tyquan Dukes and Tyler Cue make up the eight-ranked 4x100 relay team. The quad ran to victory at the IC4A meet with a time of 39.60 to put them ahead of Missippi and Auburn heading into regionals. It was also an LIU school record.

Rodney, McLean, Petit-Homme and Walker-Khan are seeded 12th as the 4x400 relay team with a time of 3:06.98, also earned at the IC4A Championship. The team was also victorious at the NEC Championship earlier in May. Both relays will take place on Saturday.

On the women's side, Kyaira Wright-Harmon is ranked 22nd in the high jump with athletes from North Carolina, Wake Forest and Miami. Wright-Harmon broke the conference record at the NEC Championship in May, en route to picking up Most Valuable Performer and Most Outstanding Field Performer honors.

The qualifiers out of the East and West regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon.
