BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn women's golf team put together a tremendous season in 2014-15, both on the links and in the classroom. The Blackbirds won a pair of team titles and finished second at the Northeast Conference Championships, and concluded with an outstanding 3.940 cumulative GPA for the academic year. The mark is the highest by any individual program for a year since the league started tracking team GPAs back in 2006-07.
As an athletic department, LIU's 17 varsity teams combined for an impressive 3.235 GPA to rank fourth in the NEC behind Sacred Heart (3.279), Wagner (3.279) and Saint Francis U. (3.251). Five student-athletes were named Scholar-Athlete of the Year in their respective sports in 2014-15: Brice Merwine (Men's Soccer), Annika Foit (Volleyball), Katrina Anderson (Women's Outdoor Track & Field), Cristina Felip (Women's Golf) and Lauren Morizi (Softball).
