BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn women's soccer team begins Northeast Conference play this weekend with a pair of matches. The Blackbirds will host Saint Francis U. on Friday, Oct. 2 at 3:00 p.m., before taking the trip to Central Connecticut for a Sunday match scheduled for 3:00 p.m. The match against the Red Flash has been moved up to 3:00 p.m. due to impending weather.
ABOUT LIU BROOKLYN
With a 2-1 victory over NJIT on Tuesday night, LIU Brooklyn snapped its five-match winless skid and earned its third win of the year. Freshman Marian Awad got the Blackbirds on the scoreboard with a goal in the 41st minute, before redshirt sophomore Allegra Ondrejka tallied her third goal of the year to put the visitors up 2-0. The Highlanders scored in the 81st minute to cut their deficit to one, but redshirt freshman Erin Harbison recorded the last of her seven saves in the 88th minute to preserve the triumph.
On the year, Awad and Ondrejka lead the Blackbirds with three goals apiece, while senior Lucy Gunton-Jones picked up her team-leading fourth assist of the season on Awad's marker against NJIT. Harbison picked up her first collegiate win and has started each of the last four matches in goal.

The Red Flash (0-9-1) are winless thus far in 2015, with the lone result coming in the season-opening 1-1 tie against Atlantic Coast Conference foe Pittsburgh. Goalkeeper Romina Kunze stopped a stunning 26 shots against the Panthers and has recorded eight or more saves in five matches this season. Her 90 saves on the year rank first in the NEC and the NCAA. Allison LaDuke leads the offense for SFU with a pair of goals and an assist.
SFU and LIU have been two of the better teams in the NEC in recent years, as the two schools squared off in four consecutive NEC Tournament finals from 2010-13. The Red Flash lead the all-time series 12-9-2.
ABOUT CENTRAL CONNECTICUT
Entering the weekend with the best record in the NEC, the Blue Devils are 4-2-2 with the most recent victory coming in a 4-0 fashion over UMass Lowell on Sept. 20. Emma Hubbard has a team-high three goals to pace the offense while Delaney Lancor is the top playmaker in the midfield with a pair of goals and two assists.
CCSU leads the all-time series between the two schools 13-9-1, but the Blackbirds have won five of the last six matchups.
