ELLINGTON, Conn. - The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team played 36 holes on the first day of action at the Connecticut Cup on Monday. The Blackbirds shot 311 in their first round and followed it up with a 314 to sit in 13th place heading into the final day of action on Tuesday.
Senior Jake Spearpoint continued his solid fall, shooting 78-75 to lead LIU's contingent with sophomore George Helsby. Helsby registered a team-best round of 74 over the first 18 holes and finished at 153. Rounding out LIU Brooklyn's field of competitors were junior Kyle Maihi (71st), sophomore Daniel Reale (74th), senior Rodrigo Munoz (76th) and junior Victor Aronsson (79th).
Boston College holds a seven-stroke lead over Bryant at 589 while the Eagles' Matt Naumec shot one-under par 143 and will enter the final day of play with a two-stroke lead over Cornell's Luke Graboyes.
