HAMDEN, Conn. - The LIU Brooklyn women's golf team completed the third and final round of the Quinnipiac Classic on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Sara Ciliberto shot her third consecutive round of 84 to finish in a tie for 22nd and pace the Blackbirds, who closed in 10th place as a team.
Right behind Ciliberto was freshman Rebeca Pardos, who continued her round-by-round improvement with a final-round 84, one stroke better than her second round score. One stroke behind Pardos was another freshman, Carolina Ronchel, who tied for 34th, while freshman Aida Gonzalez shaved three strokes from her second-round scorecard to tie for the top round by an LIU golfer on the day at 84.
Junior Lauren Rutherglen (53rd) and sophomore Emma Paschal (58th) rounded out the LIU contingent. St. John's cruised to the team title, posting a tournament-best 310 on the final day of play to win by 23 strokes over Albany. Kirsty Beckwith of the Red Storm earned medalist honors by nine strokes over a pair of golfers from Sacred Heart.
LIU Brooklyn continues its fall season on Oct. 24-25 at the St. John's Women's Invitational.
