SMITHFIELD, R.I.- LIU Brooklyn women's soccer fell to the Bryant Bulldogs, 2-0, Sunday afternoon. The Blackbirds drop to 0-10-0, 0-2-0 NEC in the loss.
Kianna Woods opened the scoring in the 9th minute, then netted another tally in the 60th minute for the Bulldogs.
Bryant (6-6-0, 2-0-0 NEC) controlled possession for the majority of the first half.
LIU Brooklyn had a chance to tie the match in the 52nd minute. Senior
Madison Gomez, who led the Blackbirds with three shots, fired a shot which was denied by Bulldog's keeper Kaylan Conrad (two saves).
Bryant, which outshot the Blackbirds 21-5, applied pressure before Woods scored her second goal. Alex Spangler propelled a shot which was stopped by sophomore keeper
Aline Allmann (five saves) in the 56th minute.
Woods then had a pair of shots blocked by the Blackbirds' defense.
The Blackbirds generated another chance, but senior
Brooke Logel's try was denied by Bryant's keeper in the 62nd minute.
LIU Brooklyn returns to action Thursday, Oct. 6 when they head to Delaware State to take on the Hornets. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
