BROOKLYN, N.Y.- LIU Brooklyn women's soccer fell to Sacred Heart University, 1-0, on senior day Sunday afternoon. The Blackbirds drop to 2-14-0, 1-6-0 NEC with the loss. 

The Pioneers Emily Dawidczyk netted the match's lone goal in the second half.

Sacred Heart (7-5-4, 4-1-1 NEC) created the majority of chances in the first half. Its first opportunity came in the 2nd minute, Olivia Crema directed a shot on goal which was stopped by junior keeper Erin Harbison.

The Pioneers, who outshot the Blackbirds 7-2 in the first half, came back with an opportunity in the 17th minute. Melanie DaSilva propelled a shot which was denied by Harbison (three saves).

DaSilva fired another shot on goal in the 29th minute, and again, Harbison was there to make the save.

LIU Brooklyn sent its first shot on goal in the 32nd minute, senior Brooke Logel had a try stopped by Sacred Heart keeper Nicole Sambuco (five saves).

Both teams generated chances to break the tie in the second half. Sacred Heart's Alyssa Hyland sent a shot on goal which was stopped by sophomore Aline Allmann (four saves), who replaced Harbison in the second half.

DaSilva created two more chances in the 62nd and 63rd minutes. First, she had a shot blocked, then she had a drive stopped by Allmann.

The Blackbirds responded with a pair of chances. Senior Ashley Drozd had a shot stopped by Sambuco. Two minutes later, Madison Gomez, who led LIU with two shots, rang a shot off the crossbar.

LIU Brooklyn came back with another scoring chance in the 81st minute, senior Tori Shinkowitz placed a shot on goal which was stopped by Sambuco.

The Pioneers, who outshot the Blackbirds 17-9, broke the tie in the 86th minute. Dawidczyk received a cross from DaSilva, outside the 6-yard box, and touched it into the net.

The Blackbird responded with a chance to knot the score in the 87th minute. Senior Asha Mohiddin's shot, from long range, was stopped by Sambuco.

LIU Brooklyn concludes its season Friday, Oct.28 when it travels to Fairleigh Dickinson to take on the Knights. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
