Box Score CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - The LIU Brooklyn softball team fell behind early and could not recover in a 12-0 loss to Colorado State on Sunday morning. The Blackbirds managed just two hits and committed four errors in the loss.
The Rams scored three runs in the top of the first then, after CSU worked around a two-out single from senior Celinna Cosio, tallied two more runs in the second to put the score at 5-0.
Following a 1-2-3 inning from the Blackbirds, Colorado State registered two more runs in the third to put the score at 7-0. LIU struggled to get a rally going offensively over the next three innings, as junior Kylie Mulholland was the only Blackbird to register a hit with a leadoff single in the fifth.
In the seventh, CSU tacked on to its lead with five more runs. In the bottom half, the first two LIU hitters reached base but a double play ended the rally and the game.
LIU Brooklyn returns to the east coast for its next tournament in Orlando, Fla. at the UCF Tournament.
