MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The LIU Brooklyn track and field teams kicked-off their outdoor campaign this past weekend at the Coach O Coastal Carolina University Invitational. The meet was held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
On the men's side, freshman Kobe White sprinted into third with his time of 11.16 in his first outdoor meet as a Blackbird. In the same event, junior Delancio Blanco-Halstead made it into the top-ten clocking 11.39.
In the 200m dash, LIU had four top-ten finishers, including a first place performance by junior Delano Davis, who crossed the line at 21.41 to set a personal best in the event. Following Davis in third was senior Tyquan Dukes with his time of 21.63. Senior Tyler Cue was 0.05 seconds behind Dukes in fourth place. Crossing the finish line at 21.85 was Alistair McLean, who took seventh.
Senior Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme claimed seventh in the 800m run, clocking in at 1:57.71.
Junior Thaddeus Nelson set a new personal best of 4:11.85 in the 1500m run to place seventh in the event.
The men had successful runs in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays in South Carolina. The 4x100 team of Cue, Davis, Dukes and freshman Caleb Williams took first with a time of 40.25. In the same event, White, sophomore Ernest Agyeman, junior Adam Walker-Khan and senior Kyle Bennett finished in 41.97 to take fourth.
In the 4x400m relay, junior Karl Cajuste, Williams, freshman Roderick Moodie and Walker-Khan placed third in 3:21.42. Less than four seconds behind them in fifth was junior Garvey Moore, sophomore Tobias Nelson, freshman Joseph Oxley and sophomore Airrin Davis.
In field action, junior Jahphan Lupuku took second in the long jump, jumping 6.38m. In the same event, White took seventh after jumping 6.09m.
The Blackbirds had three top-five finishes in the 100m dash, including sophomore Elizabeth Adesanya's silver performance, having crossed the line at 12.42. Seniors Cassandra Jones and Gabriella Ade-Onojobi finished in fourth and fifth place in the 100m dash, respectively. Jones sprinted 12.46 in the event, barely edging out Ade-Onojobi for fourth.
The women continued to place well in the 200m dash in their first outdoor meet of the season. Jones claimed first in the event with her time of 24.52, a new personal record. Behind Jones in third was Adesanya, who also ran a new personal best in 25.14. McDonald came in seventh clocking 25.34.
In the 400m dash, Stevens came in seventh overall, crossing the line at 58.44 and Chambers was one spot behind her in eighth with her time of 58.48.
The women's 4x400m relay team of seniors Alea Stevens, Satima Chambers and sophomores Shantae McDonald and Cayla Coleman took third out of 19 teams with a time of 3:53.02.
Sophomore Christina Abiola threw a new personal best in the shot put for the outdoor season, throwing 8.59m to claim eighth overall. In the javelin throw, senior Rashema Briscoe recorded a 35.95m throw in her first attempt in the event to make it into the top-ten and record a personal best.

The Blackbirds will head to Raleigh, N.C. to compete in the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State on Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26.
