DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The LIU Brooklyn women's golf team finished the first round of competition at the Lady EagleCat Invitational. Tournament is hosted by Bethune-Cookman University at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Blackbirds currently sit in 14th after day one, carding 384 with one more round to be played on Tuesday, March 15.
Leading LIU through the first round is freshman Emma Paschal, who is tied for 21st at eight-over par, having shot 81 in her first round of the invitational. Trailing Paschal by just two strokes is sophomore Lauren Rutherglen in a tie for 34th at ten-over par. Both Blackbirds shot par or better on nine holes in round one. Paschal only took four strokes on the eighth hole for birdie, while Rutherglen sunk her putt on the 14th for the team's second birdie of the day.
Coming in third for LIU is Sara Ciliberto. The freshman sits at +19 going into day two of competition, having carded 92. Rounding out the Blackbirds is freshman Mya Jones, who shot 128 for her first round in Florida.
