Final Results
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The LIU Brooklyn women's golf team finished in 14th at the Lady EagleCat Invitational on Tuesday. The Blackbirds carded 756 on the Hills course at LPGA International for both rounds of the tournament, putting them at 172-over par.
Lauren Rutherglen shot 83 in the first and second rounds to place 31st in a field of 74 golfers. The sophomore completed the two day tournament at +20, carding 166. Finishing one stroke behind Rutherglen is Emma Paschal at 21-over par at the end of day two. The Florida native sunk her second consecutive birdie on the 14th hole, shooting par or better on 12 holes in her second round of play to tie for 34th.
Tying for 62nd is freshman Sara Ciliberto, who improved her round two score by five shots, carding 179 for both days. Coming in fourth for the Blackbirds is fellow classmate Mya Jones in 74th. The freshman took an impressive 12 strokes off of her score on day two to card 244 for the tournament.
Winthrop University won the invitational with the team's +32 performance, shooting 616 for both rounds, which is six shots ahead of the second place team, Towson University. Ashley Sloup from Winthrop and Ellen Nighbor from Sacred Heart tied for first for their three-over par finishes, but it was Nighbor who defeated Sloup on the second playoff hole (Hole #17) to earn medalist honors.

The Blackbirds will take a short break from spring competition before traveling to Gettysburg, Pa. for the Wagner Invitational hosted by Wagner College on Sunday, April 3 and Monday, April 4.
