RALEIGH, N.C. – Day one at the Raleigh Relays is complete, as the LIU Brooklyn track and field teams continue their outdoor campaign in North Carolina. The annual meet, hosted by North Carolina State, will conclude on Saturday, March 26 with the final heats scheduled to kick off at 10:00 a.m.
Senior Gabriella Ade-Onojobi was the first Blackbird to compete on Friday, placing 10th in the 100m hurdles. The London product recorded a new personal best, shaving 0.16 seconds off of her time from last season to post 14.00 in the event.
In the men's 100m dash, Delano Davis had the best performance for LIU, garnering 14th in a field of 60 sprinters with his time of 10.54. In the same event, Ernest Agyeman posted a top-20 finish, tying for 19th at 10.60. In the same event on the women's side, Anise Cuffee claimed 27th overall, crossing the line at 12.12.
It was freshman DeShawne Bunion who turned in the top time for the Blackbirds in the 400m dash. The Northeast Conference Indoor All-Rookie team selection timed a personal best in the event, clocking 48.18 to earn 15th out of 86 athletes who competed in the event.
In the women's 400m dash, LIU had its first top-5 finish. Cassandra Jones set a personal best for the outdoor event, placing 4th in the field with her time of 55.53. Behind Jones in eighth sits Stephanie Aidoo, who finished in 55.70.
In field action, senior Kyaira Wright-Harmon jumped 4.31m to finish in 14th in the women's long jump invitational on Friday.
