RALEIGH, N.C. – The LIU Brooklyn track and field teams finished competition at Raleigh Relays in North Carolina on Saturday. In the 4x400m relay, the men garnered the Blackbirds' lone first place finish of the weekend among a tough and talented field of competition.
Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme turned in the best individual finish for the Blackbirds this weekend with his silver performance in the men's 400m hurdles. The senior crossed the line at 51.32 for his best finish so far this season. Behind Petit-Homme in fourth is Alistair McLean, who clocked 52.71. In the same event, junior Karl Cajuste claimed seventh out of the 42 sprinters in the field with his time of 53.18. On the women's side, senior Alea Stevens clinched eighth in the 400m hurdles, finishing in 1:02.31.
The men went on to finish fifth in the 4x100m relay, clocking in at 40.57. Later in the 4x200m relay, both Blackbird teams placed in the top-10. The first men's relay team secured fourth place in 1:24.74, while the second team finished less than three seconds behind them to claim seventh.
With a time of 3:08.13, the men's 4x400m relay team clinched LIU's first and only gold finish in North Carolina. In the same event, the women's team finished in 3:56.11 for 16th out of 26 teams competing in the relay.

LIU track and field will make its way down to Gainesville, Florida for the Pepsi Florida Relays hosted by The University of Florida. Competition is set to take place on Thursday, March 31 through Sunday, April 2.
