Final Results
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team completed the second and final round of competition on Tuesday at the Lonnie Barton Invitational held at LPGA International. The Blackbirds began the day in seventh place and finished in sixth of nine teams. The men improved by 18 strokes on the second day of play after carding 318 on day one to finish at +42.
Leading LIU through both rounds was Daniel Reale, who went from sixth place to a tie for fifth overall. The freshman posted his best finish as a Blackbird thus far at three-over par, one stroke out of second. He shot 74 and 73 for both rounds.
Two shots behind Reale is sophomore Kyle Maihi, who carded 149 to finish at +5 for the tournament. Maihi took three strokes off of his round one score of 76 to jump five spots into a tie for ninth.
In third for the Blackbirds is junior Rodrigo Munoz who tied for 19th in a field of 56 golfers. The San Miguel, Mexico native improved his score from 79 in round one to 75 in round two to finish at ten-over par.
Junior Jake Spearpoint took eight strokes off of his round one score, shooting 82 and 74, completing the invitational at 12-over par to stand in a five-way tie for 27th after starting the day in 42nd.
Freshman George Helsby finished alone in 38th, carding 161 over both days. Rounding out the Blackbirds is Stewart Gray, who was one stroke behind Helsby at 18-over par after two rounds of competition, putting the senior in a tie for 39th.

The men's golf team will take a few weeks off from competition before returning to spring action on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 for the Towson Invitational held in Grasonville, Md.
