PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The LIU Brooklyn track and field teams finished competition at the Metropolitan Championships on Saturday hosted by Rutgers University. The men took fourth as a team with 78 points and the women placed seventh scoring 38 points.
The men had an impressive 1-2-3 finish in the 200m dash, with Delano Davis coming in first, having clocked 22.64 and adding 10 points to LIU's score. In second was Caleb Williams at 22.78 and Kyle Bennett in the third spot with his time of 23.10.
Three seniors lead a 2-3-4 charge in the men's 400m dash. Alistair McLean took second with his 49.46 sprint, followed by Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme's time of 50.00 for bronze and in fourth was Tyler Cue, clocking 50.05.
Petit-home went on to take fifth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.20, but it was junior Karl Cajuste who turned in the best finish for the Blackbirds in the event. Cajuste crossed the line at 15.67 to take second overall.
LIU sprinters Caleb Williams and Brendon Rodney took second and third in the men's 100m dash. Williams crossed the finish line at 11.24 with Rodney right on his heels at 11.38. In the men's 400m hurdles, Tobias Nelson came in fifth after completing the race in 57.76.
Coming in seventh in the women's 100m dash was Elizabeth Adesanya, who clocked 13.18. I. The women's 400m hurdles, senior Gabriella Ade-Onojobi placed fifth with her time of 1:06.41.
Seniors Cemorne Baugh and Stephanie Aidoo took third and fourth in the women's 200m dash with their times of 25.17 and 25.21, respectively.
In field action, junior Japhan Lupuku placed sixth for the men in the long jump, jumping 2.63m for a personal best. In the same event, freshman Kobe White jumped into eighth, covering a distance of 5.55m for his best attempt.
For the women, sophomore Christina Abiola took home her first gold finish in the discus throw, throwing 39.74m, which was almost one meter further than the second place finisher. Abiola then goes on to claim second in shot put following her 12.33m throw. In the same event, fellow classmate Reya Adams took ninth with her 9.76m attempt.

The track and field teams will take one week off from competition before returning to the track for the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia.
