BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team has back-to-back tournaments this week, beginning with the Saint Peter's Peacock Invitational in Neshanic Station, N.J. on Tuesday, April 19 followed by the annual Til Duty Is Done Collegiate Invitational taking place on Saturday, April 23 through Sunday, April 24.
LAST TIME OUT
The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team finished the second and final round of competition at the Towson Invitational carding 640 for the weekend. Despite the wind factor, the men moved up one spot to finish in 13th of 16 teams at +64 for both rounds. Upperclassmen Jake Spearpoint and Stewart Gray garnered the best finish for the Blackbirds, tying for 33rd in a field of 83 golfers. Spearpoint took two strokes off of his first round score to shoot 78 and stand at 14-over par. Gray finished one stroke behind Spearpoint in the second round at 79 to also end the tournament at +14.
AT SAINT PETER'S
This will be the team's first time competing at the Saint Peter's Peacock Invitational, which will be held at Neshanic Valley Golf Course.
TIL DUTY IS DONE
The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team placed fifth at the 2015 Til Duty Is Done Invitational hosted by UConn, carding 611. LIU men's golf alumnus George Williams turned in a fifth place finish at the invitational last season, while Gray knocked two strokes off of his first round score to shoot 74 on the day and tie for 9th.
UP NEXT
The Northeast Conference Championships for men's golf are right around the corner. The Blackbirds will return to Daytona Beach, Florida and LPGA International for their final scheduled tournament of the spring season.
