BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn track and field teams are heading back to the track after taking a week off from outdoor competition. The men and women will be participating in two meets this weekend, including the Georgia Tech Invitational and Larry Ellis Invitational. In Atlanta, Georgia the meet will be hosted by Georgia Tech University on the George C. Griffin track. This will be the Blackbirds' first appearance at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Meanwhile, the prestigious Larry Ellis Invite is scheduled to take place in Princeton, New Jersey hosted by the Princeton University Tigers. Both meets are set to begin on Friday, April 22 and conclude on Saturday, April 23.
LAST TIME OUT
At the Metropolitan Championships hosted by Rutgers University, the Blackbirds had 16 top-five finishes across the board. The men took fourth as a team with 78 points and the women placed seventh scoring 38 points.
The men had an impressive 1-2-3 finish in the 200m dash, with Delano Davis coming in first, having clocked 22.64 and adding 10 points to LIU's score. In second was Caleb Williams at 22.78 and Kyle Bennett in the third spot with his time of 23.10. Three seniors lead a 2-3-4 charge in the men's 400m dash. Alistair McLean took second with his 49.46 sprint, followed by Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme's time of 50.00 for bronze and in fourth was Tyler Cue, clocking 50.05. Sprinters Caleb Williams and Brendon Rodney took second and third in the men's 100m dash. Williams crossed the finish line at 11.24 with Rodney right on his heels at 11.38.
For the women, seniors Cemorne Baugh and Stephanie Aidoo took third and fourth in the women's 200m dash with their times of 25.17 and 25.21, respectively. Sophomore Christina Abiola took home her first gold finish in the discus throw, throwing 39.74m, which was almost one meter further than the second place finisher. Abiola then goes on to claim second in shot put following her 12.33m throw.

Baugh recorded a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 55.34, a personal best and the Northeast Conference's fastest of the season at the time. In the 100m hurdles, Gabriella Ade-Onojobi placed 12th in 14.54, a personal best last season. On the men's side, Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme sprinted 48.16 in the 400-meter dash, tying his top time this season and good enough for eighth place. Adam Walker-Khan leapt into third with a mark of 7.31 in the long jump, which was the best mark in the NEC at the time.
