BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn head field hockey coach Pat Kennedy has announced that Anna Bauer (Pasadena, Md.), Sydney Malave (Tabernacle, N.J.) and Magni Mata (Bethesda, Md.) have committed to play for the Blackbirds beginning in the fall of 2016. The trio join 16 other future student-athletes who signed National Letters of Intent last November.
Bauer is a four-year varsity letterwinner who led her Chesapeake High School team in points as a sophomore and in assists as a senior. The forward led Chesapeake to a county and regional championship in 2015, and back-to-back Section 3A titles in 2014 and 2015.
A three-year member of the varsity team at Seneca High School, Malave was a two-time Olympic Conference All-Star and led the Golden Eagles to a program-best win total. The relentless back also helped Seneca to second place in the division and a second-round appearance in the Group III Central playoffs.
A four-year letterwinner and a captain as a senior, Mata led Walter Johnson High School in assists as a senior and was named MVP of the team. The versatile player who saw action as a forward and midfielder during her prep career, Mata led the Wildcats to the playoffs with six regular-season goals.
