BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's and women's track and field teams will be entering their final weekend of competition before the 2016 Northeast Conference Outdoor Championships. The Blackbirds will be taking part in both the Penn Relays and the Lion's Invitational. The Penn Relays will be hosted by the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Thursday, April 28 through Saturday, April 30. Meanwhile, the College of New Jersey's Lion's Invitational will take place in Ewing, New Jersey starting Friday, April 29 and concluding on Saturday, April 30. This will be LIU's first time competing at the Lion's Invitational.
LAST TIME OUT
At the Georgia Tech Invitational, the men's 4x100m relay team of Brendon Rodney, Caleb Williams, Delano Davis and Tyquan Dukes took gold in 40.24. Tyler Cue, Alistair McLean, Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme and Deshawne Bunion took first in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:08.49. Petit-Homme finished second in the men's 400m hurdles with his time of 50.65. In his signature event, the 200m dash, Rodney took first in 20.63 for the Blackbirds' lone individual gold of the meet. The women's 4x400m relay team of Elizabeth Adesanya, Stephanie Aidoo, Cemorne Baugh and Cassandra Jones crossed the finish line at 3:40.90 for third.
In field action at the Larry Ellis Invitational, Senior Kyaira Wright-Harmon jumped 1.70m in the women's high jump to secure fourth in a field of 23 competitors. In the men's long jump, junior Adam Walker-Khan jumped 7.06m to clinch fifth place of 20 athletes competing in the event.
AT THE PENN RELAYS
Last season, the Blackbirds competed in the Penn Relays, one of the toughest collegiate track meets in the country. Kyaira Wright-Harmon started things off for the Blackbirds, placing 14th in the high jump with a mark of 1.68m. On the men's side, Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme placed sixth overall in the 400-meter hurdles in 53.49. In the 4x200 relay, Adam Walker-Khan, Tyler Cue and Tyquan Dukes were members of the relay team that placed 18th overall.

The Blackbirds will make their way to New Britain, Connecticut for the 2016 Northeast Conference Championships, which will be hosted by Central Connecticut on Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8.
