BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team will be making their way back to Daytona Beach, Florida this weekend for the 2016 Northeast Conference Championships. The tournament will be held on the Jones Course at LPGA International starting Friday, April 29 through Sunday, May 1.
LAST TIME OUT
At the UConn hosted tournament, the Blackbirds placed ninth of 13 teams competing at the Til Duty Is Done Collegiate Invitational, carding 915 over three rounds. Stewart Gray paced the Blackbirds throughout the weekend, shooting 72-72-77 to tie for 16th in a field of 75 golfers.
AT THE 2015 NEC CHAMPIONSHIPS
LIU Brooklyn carded a team total of 312 for round three to finish with 917, tying with Fairleigh Dickinson for a third place finish. Robert Morris won the team title with 892, followed by Bryant with 906. Central Connecticut was fifth, followed by Wagner, Saint Francis U., Sacred Heart and St. Francis Brooklyn. A senior last season, George Williams finished with 217 for the three rounds of the 2015 NEC Men's Golf Championships to win the individual title. As a team, the Blackbirds finished with 20 birdies and 153 parred holes for the three days, and were second among all teams on par-three holes.
CHAMPIONSHIPS FORMAT
The conference championship is a three-day, 54-hole event. Team scores are calculated by adding the team's four lowest scores from each day. The top-10 finishers are named to the all-tournament team.
