EWING, N.J – The LIU Brooklyn track and field teams also competed at The College of New Jersey's Lion's Invitational on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30.
In field action, Clinton Belle placed ninth in the javelin throw with his final mark of 42.72m. For the women, Rashema Briscoe took seventh in the same event, throwing 35.08m. Christina Abiola finished in sixth with her 12.51m attempt in the women's shot put. She then went on to take fifth in the discus with a mark of 41.94m.
In the men's 400m hurdles, Tobias Nelson timed 56.59 to stand in 11th for the event. Meanwhile, senior Nicholas Ruiz ran a season best of 10:21.01 in the 3000m steeplechase to stand in eighth overall.
Alea Stevens competed in the women's 100m hurdles for the Blackbirds, taking 11th of 43 athletes after clocking 15.38 in the final heat.
LIU had two top-ten finishers in the women's 200m dash. Satima Chambers clocked 25.90 to take fifth, while Josephine Watson finished in eighth with her time of 26.38. Cayla Coleman had a silver finish in the women's 400m dash, crossing the line at 57.71.
In the women's 5000m run, Esther Jean-Louis placed sixth with her time of 18.44.58.
