BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn men's golf senior Stewart Gray capped his career with the Blackbirds with a Second Team All-Northeast Conference honor, it was announced by the league on Tuesday. It is the second time in Gray's career that he has earned all-conference accolades, as he was named to the second team following his sophomore season.
Gray was LIU Brooklyn's leader in scoring average for the 2015-16 season, with all but one of his 24 rounds breaking 80. In the fall's Connecticut Cup, the New Zealand native shot 70-75-75 to tie for 17th individually.
Over the course of the spring semester, Gray helped the Blackbirds to a Saint Peter's Peacock Invitational team title with a runner-up showing after shooting 73. He continued his hot play in the next tournament, carding back-to-back rounds of 72 to tie for 16th at the 'Til Duty Is Done Collegiate Invitational.
Bryant's McKinley Slade was named NEC Player of the Year while Wagner earned Rookie of the Year (Lucas Moreno) and Coach of the Year (Chris Fourman) honors. The Bulldogs placed three on the All-NEC First Team, while the Seahawks had a trio of players on the second team.
