DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team tied for seventh at the conclusion of the 2016 Northeast Conference Championships. The Blackbirds carded 902 at the three round tournament.
The Wagner Seahawks defeated the bulldogs of Bryant on the second playoff hole to win the title, having shot 869 on the weekend. Fairleigh Dickinson's Minn Woon defeated Bryant's Ryan Tombs on the third playoff hole to earn medalist honors and the NEC individual crown.
Junior Rodrigo Munoz turned in the lowest score of the championship for the men to tie for 17th, shooting 76 in his third and final round of competition to post 902 on the weekend.
Trailing Munoz by one stroke is freshman Daniel Reale, who shot 80 on day three to end up at 225 for his first NEC Championship tournament. Four strokes back from Reale is Stewart Gray. The senior carded 78 for his third round of play to tie for 27th in his final NEC appearance.
Tying for 37th overall is Kyle Maihi, who posted 234 for all three days and finished his sophomore season with a round of 78. Rounding out the Blackbirds is freshman George Helsby, also carding 78 for his final round to tie for 39th after shooting a three round total of 235.
This concludes the LIU Brooklyn men's golf team's 2015-16 season.
