BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Three LIU Brooklyn track and field individuals and a pair of relay teams will take part in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Meet on May 26-28 in Jacksonville, Fla., as the start lists were announced recently.
On the women's side, senior Kyaira Wright-Harmon will take part in the high jump after qualifying with a leap of 1.75m at Penn Relays in April. A four-time winner of the event at Northeast Conference Outdoor Championships, Wright-Harmon will be vying for one of the top 12 spots that will move on to national championships in Eugene, Ore. in June.
A pair of individuals on the men's side will be making their fourth straight trip to NCAA East Regionals. Senior Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme finished 10th in the 400-meter hurdles at last season's regional meet to earn a trip to Eugene, and is a two-time Second Team All-American in the event in which he ranks 12th nationally (50.55) heading into this weekend.
Graduate student Brendon Rodney is coming off an impressive indoor campaign that saw him earn First Team All-America accolades in the 200-meter dash. This spring, he qualified for East Regionals in the same event with a time of 20.50 that is tied for 14th in the country this season.
Rodney and Petit-Homme will also run on the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams which qualified for East Regionals. Both relay squads advanced to NCAA Championships last spring and will be looking to duplicate their quality performances from last season in Jacksonville this week.
Competition begins on the campus of the University of North Florida on Thursday, May 26 and will run through Saturday, May 28.
