BETHLEHEM, PA. - The LIU Brooklyn women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Lehigh University Friday evening at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Blackbirds drop to 0-3-0 with the loss.
Kayla Arestivo opened the scoring in the 38th minute. In the second half, Grace Correll, Tori Pantaleo and Becca Sherry added tallies for the Mountain Hawks, who improved to 1-0-1.
LIU Brooklyn created chances early in the match. In the 11th minute, senior
Brooke Logel, who logged three shots, fired an attempt on goal, which was denied by Lehigh keeper Sam Miller, who made four saves.
The Blackbirds came back in the 30th minute. Redshirt junior
Jenn Peters, who also recorded three shots, directed a shot on net, which was stopped by the Mountain Hawk's keeper. Following Arestivo's goal, Lehigh came right back as Annika Jansa's shot was stopped by sophomore keeper
Aline Allmann, who made nine saves.
LIU Brooklyn had an opportunity to tie the score in the 46th minute, but senior
Madison Gomez's shot was denied by Miller. The Mountain Hawks' offense would go on to score three second-half goals to put away the match.
LIU Brooklyn returns to action on Sunday when they travel to Lafayette to play the Leopards. Kickoff is slated for noon.
