EASTON, Pa.- Senior midfielder
Brooke Logel scored her first goal of the season to tie the game in the 62
nd minute. But Lafayette's Melissa Lynskey recorded three second-half tallies as LIU Brooklyn women's soccer fell to the Leopards, 3-1. The Blackbirds dropped to 0-4-0 in the loss.
Lafayette (3-0-1) held the Blackbirds' offense in check in the first half limiting them to two shots.
The Leopards fired three shots on goal in the first stanza, but sophomore keeper
Aline Allmann, who made five saves, stopped the opportunities.
LIU Brooklyn created a pair of chances in the beginning of the second half. First, sophomore
Josie Watson sent a shot on goal, which was stopped by Lafayette keeper Danielle Sedillo in the 47
th minute. Then senior
Brittany Galske's try was denied by Sedillo.
Lynskey opened the scoring for Lafayette, who outshot the Blackbirds 15-7, in the 52
nd minute.
Red-shirt junior
Jenn Peters, who recorded an assist, responded with a chance in the 58
th minute, as she rang a shot off the crossbar.
After Logel knotted the score, the Blackbirds had chances, but Lynskey's two goals in the 71
st minute and 77
th minute were the difference.
LIU Brooklyn returns to action on Friday, Sept. 2 when they head to Charleston Southern to play the Buccaneers. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m.
