SIMSBURY, Conn. - Senior Rodrigo Munoz shot a one-over par 73 and was the top finisher for the LIU Brooklyn men's golf team at the Ryan T. Lee Intercollegiate over the weekend. Munoz finished the tournament at 152 and tied for 29th overall. As a team, the Blackbirds finished in a tie for 10th with Rider at 613.
Munoz had four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey on his second round, and made the turn with a two-under par score of 34 on the day. The round of 73 also was the top performance of any LIU player in the tournament, besting the 75 shot by Victor Aronsson on Saturday.
Senior Jake Spearpoint shaved a stroke off his first-round score and carded a 76 to finish a stroke behind Munoz at 153. Sophomore Daniel Reale finished at 155, junior Kyle Maihi at 157 and Aronsson closed at 158.
Bryant University won the tournament by 14 strokes over Wagner, while Bryant's Ryan Tombs fired a four-under par 68 to earn medalist honors by four strokes.
LIU Brooklyn returns to action on Sept. 19-20 at the Hartford Hawk Invitational in Connecticut.
