SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team heads to Missouri to take on a trio of teams in the state's capital this week. The Blackbirds will face the host Bears on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 5:00 p.m., before facing Pacific on Friday, Sept. 23 and UC Davis on Sunday, Sept. 25.
LIU is coming off a narrow 3-1 loss to Towson on Sept. 18. Freshman Madi Cook scored the first goal of her collegiate career in the contest, as the Blackbirds (0-4) were tied with the Tigers, 1-1, as the first half was nearing completion before a goal with seconds remaining in the period gave Towson a lead it would not relinquish.
Missouri State (0-4) is also searching for its first victory of the year, as the Bears have dropped contests to Saint Francis U., Saint Louis and Indiana. Bianca Mills and Andrea Soler Codina each have a goal on the year for Missouri State.
Pacific (4-3) enters the weekend on a four-game winning streak that includes victories over Bryant, Dartmouth, Vermont and Drexel. The Tigers have scored 30 goals over seven matches and are led by Marguerite van Wyk with six goals and four assists.
UC Davis (1-6) had played a challenging non-conference schedule that has included games against nationally-ranked Boston University and Maine, and power conference foes Indiana and Ohio State. The Aggies lone win came on the road against Ohio, 3-0. Beth Lee has played the majority of time in goal for UC Davis and has 51 saves in seven matches.
