BURLINGTON, Vt. - After playing reigning America East champion Vermont to a scoreless draw on its home field and outshooting the Catamounts, 5-4, in the opening stanza, the LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team allowed three second-half tallies and dropped a 3-0 decision in the championship match of the Peter Baldwin Classic on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomores Erik Wahlin and Romario Guscott, along with freshman Frej Engberg, were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Blackbirds had possession advantage in the opening half, and put a pair of shots on goal that Vermont goalkeeper Aron Runarsson was able to stop. Sophomore Simen Hestnes had an attempt in the eighth minute that was thwarted, while Guscott had a go in the 30th minute that was denied.

LIU had a pair of corner kicks in the first 6:07 of the second half but Vermont was able to defend each set piece to keep the contest scoreless. In the 58th minute, Bernard Yeboah finished from six yards out to put the Catamounts on top, 1-0.

Over the next 10 minutes, the Blackbirds continued to mount an attack but were unable to break through. In the 71st minute, Charlie DeFeo headed home a point-blank chance to put the score at 2-0. Then less than four minutes later, Brian Wright put the contest out of reach with his fourth goal of the season.

LIU Brooklyn returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 11 at Howard. The contest is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
