PHILADELPHIA - The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team continues its inaugural season on Friday, Sept. 9 against Ivy League foe Penn, beginning at 3:30 p.m. A live broadcast of the game will be available via the Ivy League DIgital Network.
The Blackbirds began their first varsiity season last weekend with two contests in North Carolina. Freshman Skai Sprenkle registered the first goal in program history in a loss to Davidson, and classmate Casey Carrigan was able to collect her first collegiate goal against Appalachian State. Freshman Lydia Trout picked up the first assist in LIU history on Carrigan's goal.
Penn (1-1) most recently suffered a 6-2 loss at the hands of top-ranked North Carolina at Ellen Vagelos Field on Sept. 4. Sofia Palacios had both goals for the Quakers, who outshot the Tar Heels 10-5 in the second half. Gina Guccione also has two goals on the season.
