STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The LIU Brooklyn men's track & field team kicked off the 2017 portion of its schedule Friday evening at the Wagner College Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Senior Karl Cajuste highlighted the day with a second-place finish in the 400-meter run finishing in 48.62. Sophomore Caleb Williams placed eighth running a 50.93.
The Blackbirds 4x400 meter relay 'A' and 'B" teams finished second and third respectively. The 'A' team (Logan Jones, Cajuste, Williams, and sophomore Deshawne Bunion) finished in 3:18.53. The 'B' team (Senior Adam Walker-Khan, freshman Collin Sewell, sophomore Roderick Moodie, and senior Garvey Moore) crossed the line in 3:19.17.
Bunion (1:05.99) placed fourth in the 500m. Logan Jones (1:06.98) finished seventh, and Moore (1:07.17) came in 10th place.
LIU recorded two top-10 finishes in the 200-meter dash. Walker-Khan placed seventh running a 22.60, and freshman Corey Butcher placed ninth crossing the line in 22.68. Sophomore Ernest Agyeman (22.96) added a 14th place finish.
In the field events, sophomore Clinton Belle placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 15.02m.
The Blackbirds return to action on Saturday, January 14 when they return to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the Great Dane Classic.
