BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- The LIU Brooklyn women's soccer team will complete its 2017 season this weekend with a road contest at Central Connecticut and its Senior Day home match against Saint Francis U. The Blackbirds will face CCSU on Friday, October 27 at 7 p.m. and will honor their four seniors - Erin Harbison, Natalie Henderson, Brittany Galske, and Jenn Peters - before hosting the Red Flash on Sunday, October 29 at 2 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
LIU was dealt a 1-0 home defeat on October 20 against the Bryant Bulldogs in their penultimate match of the year at LIU Field. Despite a team-high three shot attempts from redshirt senior Jenn Peters, the Blackbirds were unable to snap their three-game scoreless drought to draw even with the Bulldogs.
BLACKBIRD OUTLOOK
Peters (4 goals, 8 points), freshman Kimberly Butland (2 assists), and junior
Marian Awad (47 shots) remain the team leaders for the Blackbirds. Allmann leads the LIU goalkeepers in saves (75), goals against average (1.00), save percentage (.872), shutouts (4) and minutes (994:51).
RECORDS WATCH
Peters and Allmann are close to several career and single-season marks as the year comes to a close. Peters has 20 career goals, six career game-winners and 45 total shots this season. She is one away from a tie for third on the goals list (21 - Kayleigh Morgan, 2007-11); one shy of a tie for fifth in game winners (7 - Morgan), and eight away from tying for fifth in total shots in a season (53 - Jackie McCormick, 2005). Allmann has made 167 career saves and currently sports a .872 save percentage this season. Eighteen more saves will move Allmann into a tie for fifth place all-time with Jessica Montrose (185, 2013-15) and if she can improve her save rate to .875 or higher, she will tie Jessica Sexton's 2012 mark.
