Northeast Conference Preseason Poll
NTCA Preseason Poll

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Just over a week before the start of the season, the LIU Brooklyn bowling team has been ranked in two preseason polls released this week. The Blackbirds were ranked 16th in the nation in the National Tenpin Coaches' Association Preseason Poll, and were selected to finish fourth in the Northeast Conference in the league's annual preseason poll.

The NTCA Poll, release Wednesday, ranked the top 25 teams in the nation, with LIU being picked at No. 16. One of four NEC teams in the top 20, the Blackbirds moved up a spot from No. 17, where they finished last season.

In the NEC poll, voted on by each of the league's coaches, LIU was picked to finish fourth in one of the top bowling conferences in the nation. The NEC didn't have a unanimous preseason favorite, with three different teams earning first place votes. Saint Francis U., Sacred Heart and FDU all got votes in the poll, ranking one through three, while LIU was picked to finish fourth, ahead of Duquesne, SFBK and Caldwell.

The Blackbirds open the 2017-18 season on October 14-15, traveling to Reading, Pa., to take part in Kutztown's annual Bud Whitman Memorial tournament.
