BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team will return to the Steinberg Wellness Center Saturday afternoon for its toughest matchup of the season, a date with No. 22/20 Michigan.

- The Blackbirds will be facing its third nationally-ranked team in three years, having hosted No. 14 Florida State in 2015 and traveled to No. 7 Ohio State in 2016.
- LIU snapped a two-game losing streak with an impressive 67-49 victory over NJIT on November 29. Graduate transfer Denisha Petty-Evans led the Blackbirds with a team-high 24 points and hit a career-best ten field goals (10-for-15). Sophomore Seneca Richards scored 12 points off the bench after matching her career mark in three-pointers made with four. Redshirt junior Drew Winter added nine points and game-highs of nine rebounds and five assists. Senior forward DeAngelique Waithe had eight points and six rebounds and junior forward Destoni Willock netted season bests of four points and six rebounds.
- The Blackbirds set season high in points scored (67), field goals made (27), field goal percentage (.450), three-point percentage (.409), and blocked shots (7) in their win over NJIT. The victory also gave the Blackbirds its third win in six games, the first time LIU has been .500 or better after a half dozen contests (2011-12; 5-1).
- LIU is led by Petty-Evans (17.2 ppg), senior forward DeAngelique Waithe (7.5 rpg) and Winter (4.8 apg).
- Michigan enters Saturday's action with a 4-2 record after winning two of its last three games, dropping only an 83-63 defeat to No. 3 Notre Dame on November 29. The Wolverines are led by Katelynn Flaherty (23.7 ppg; 4.7 apg) and Jillian Dunston (9.0 rpg).
- Saturday's contest will be the first all-time meeting between the Blackbirds and the Wolverines.
