BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team will play its final game before Christmas, last game of the non-conference slate, and penultimate game of 2017 on Wednesday evening against Navy, .

QUICK HITS
  • The Blackbirds are looking to bounce back after a 72-38 setback against Manhattan at home on December 16. Against the Jaspers, graduate transfer Denisha Petty-Evans led LIU with 11 points, continuing her season-long streak of double-digit scoring performances (10 in a row).
  • LIU also set a new season-high as a team by knocking down 17 free throws. The last time a Blackbird team hit 17 or more free throws was in the 2016-17 season finale at Wagner (21) on February 27.
  • Petty-Evans and freshman Jeydah Johnson still pace the team on the offensive end at 16.1 and 13.2 points per game, respectively. Senior DeAngelique Waithe continues to snare rebounds at a 7.5 per game clip and redshirt junior Drew Winter is dishing out assists at a rate of 4.8 per game.
  • No matter the outcome, LIU will go into Northeast Conference play with a sign of program progress - its most non-league wins (four or five) since 2011-12, when the Blackbirds went 11-2 in non-conference action.
  • Navy enters Wednesday's matchup after having its season-opening nine-game winning streak snapped in an 94-87 overtime loss to a New Mexico team received votes in the latest national polls.
  • LIU trails the five-game all-time series with Navy, 2-3, but have won the last two meetings, including a 68-66 win in their last contest on December 2, 2016.
  • The Mids are led by senior Taylor Dunham (15.4 ppg), sophomore Kaila Clark (8.6 rpg), and senior Hannah Fenske (3.7 apg).
