BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team was picked to finish eighth in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, it was announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Bryant was picked in the top spot with six first place votes, while defending NEC champion Wagner was picked to finish second.
LIU finished tied for seventh place at the 2016 Northeast Conference championships. The Blackbirds carded 902 at the three round tournament. Then-junior Rodrigo Munoz turned in the lowest score of the championship for the men to tie for 17th, shooting 76 in his third and final round of competition to post 902 on the weekend.
The NEC Tournament has seen a different champion in each of the last six seasons with Sacred Heart (2011), Mount St. Mary's (2012), Saint Francis U (2013), Bryant (2014), Robert Morris (2015) and Wagner (2016) all hoisting the trophy.
The 2017 NEC Men's Golf Championship will be held from April 28-30 on the Hills Course at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL.
