BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- The Northeast Conference (NEC) has selected LIU Brooklyn freshman Carolina Ronchel as the NEC Female Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
Ronchel opened her spring season with a pair of impressive finishes en route to earning her first-ever conference award. She tied for fourth at the Lonnie Barton Invitational, shooting a 78 in each round to finish five shots off the pace. One week later, the freshman posted another fourth place finish at the Lady EagleCat Invitational in Daytona Beach, FL, carding a three-over 147 with rounds of 74 and 73 for the Blackbirds - the lowest rounds of the year for any LIU golfer. Ronchel's efforts helped the Blackbirds to a fourth place showing at the Lonnie Barton Invitational and to a seventh place finish at the Lady EagleCat Invitational.
LIU hits the links again on April 1 at the Wagner Seahawk Invitational in Littlestown, Pa.
