Men's Track & Field | Mar 22 | 23 Track & Field Athletes Earn All-NEC Honors SOMERSET, N.J. --- The Northeast Conference (NEC) announced its full slate of postseason indoor track and field awards Wednesday afternoon and LIU Brooklyn was well-represented among the league's best. Overall, the Blackbirds earned a combined 23 spots on the NEC's first, second, and all-rookie teams. The LIU men, who captured the this year's NEC indoor title, earned six slots on the first team, four on the second team, and one for all-rookie. Leading the way was senior Karl Cajuste, who earned first team honors in the 200 and 400 meters and was named Most Valuable Performer and Most Outstanding Track Performer (Sprints) at the conference meet. Joining Cajuste on the first team is Adam Walker-Khan, who was selected for his efforts in the long jump and triple jump. On the women's side, senior Cassandra Jones led the second-place Blackbirds by taking home a conference-leading four all-NEC nods - first team honors in the 500 meters and the 4x400 relay and second team marks in the 60 & 200 meters. For her efforts, Jones was also named Most Valuable Performer and Most Outstanding Track Performer (Sprints). Newcomer Stephanie Esogenwune earned her place on the All-NEC second team and All-Rookie team with her efforts in the triple jump.
