Men's Track & Field | May 01 | Track Preps For NECs With Penn Relays, TCNJ Meet Story Links Penn Relays Results Lions Invitational Results BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- The final weekend before the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships saw the LIU Brooklyn men's and women's track and field teams compete in split action for the fourth consecutive weekend. The Blackbirds sent athletes to two neighboring states, competing in the prestigious Penn Relays and The College of New Jersey's Lions Invitational. NOTABLE PERFORMANCES Two Blackbird quartets produced top-two NEC Performance List times at the Penn Relays. The men's 4x 100 Relay team of Kwesi Henderson, DeShawn Bunion, Karl Cajuste, and Garvey Moore moved into first in the league with their time of 3:10.77. The second-best mark in the 4x100 Relay now belongs to the Blackbird women after Cayla Coleman, Shantae McDonald, Cassandra Jones, and Deja Johnson ran a 47.52 at Penn. Freshman Angeli Andre finished in the top five in two Lions Invitational events, winning the High Jump with a mark of 5-5 (1.65m) and coming in fifth in the 100 Meters with a time of 12.57. Both performances are season bests for the newcomer. Sean Sinclair recorded the best men's performance for LIU at TCNJ when the sophomore ran a 22.05 in the 200 Meters to finish second overall in the event. Fellow sophomores Logan Jones (22.60) and Kobe White (22.62) were tenth and 11th in the 200 meters, respectively. Senior Rashema Briscoe took the Javelin title at TCNJ after a toss of 137-2.00 (41.80m), a mark good enough for fifth place in the league.
