Titles for Walker-Khan, Roberts, Lead Men's Track & Field at Day One of NECs Story Links Day 1 Results NEC Championship Homepage EMMITSBURG, Md. --- Saturday's opening schedule of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships completed with the LIU Brooklyn men's team in fourth place overall with 32 points, only ten points out behind first-place Saint Francis (PA). Four Blackbird individuals and one relay team recorded the team's first day tally in four different events: LIU athletes earned a pair of titles in the field events: junior Kareem Roberts took first place in the high jump (6-7.50 / 2.02m; 10 PTS) and senior Adam Walker-Khan completed his four-year NEC Outdoors sweep of the long jump (23-7.25 / 7.19m; 10 PTS). Senior Delano Davis also scored in the long jump, placing fourth with a leap of 23-1.25 / 7.04m (5 PTS). Sophomore Clinton Belle was fourth in the shot put after logging a distance of 47-10.75 / 14.59m (5 PTS) Finally, the 4x800m Relay team of senior Thaddeus Nelson, junior Airrin Davis, senior Nicholas Ruiz and sophomore Logan Jones placed in seventh with a time of 8:25.97 (2 PTS). In preliminaries action, LIU produced 13 qualifying marks across five events for Sunday's running finals: Davis and sophomore Deshawn Bunion ran first in their respective races; Davis took the top spot in the 200 meters (21.90) and Bunion was the best qualifier in the 400 meters (49.16). Davis nearly added another race to his Sunday schedule but finished ninth in the 100 meters, just .02 seconds out of eighth place. Sophomores Caleb Williams and Sean Sinclair also secured sports for Sunday's events. Williams was the top Blackbird finisher in the 100 meters after running second in a time of 10.87 and also taking second in the 200 (21.96). Sinclair was fourth in both the 100 (10.98) and 200 (22.11) behind Williams. Senior Karl Cajuste moved on in both hurdle races after placing fifth in the 110 meters (55.86) and tying for 7th in the 400 meters (15.14). LIU's other qualifiers included Walker-Khan (2nd, 400 hurdles, 55.24), junior Tobias Nelson (3rd, 400 hurdles, 55.54), senior Garvey Moore (4th, 400 meters, 49.69), sophomore Roderick Moodie (4th, 110 hurdles, 15.03) and freshman Kwesi Henderson (7th, 400 meters, 49.91).
