The first eight games of the season, all non-conference contests, will take place on the road. In addition to the season-opener in Bethlehem, the Blackbirds will take on La Salle in Philadelphia on August 27, before heading south. LIU will travel to Missouri to take part in two games at the Sportport International Complex in Maryland Heights, facing off against Saint Louis (August 30) and Colgate (Sept. 1).
The Blackbirds return to the Mid-Atlantic region for the next four contests, playing two in Pennsylvania and two in Virginia before their home opener. LIU will take on Villanova (Sept. 8), Bucknell (Sept. 10), Longwood (Sept. 16) and VCU (Sept. 17) in their last stretch of a long road schedule.
The Blackbirds will host their home opener on LIU Field on Sunday, September 24, taking on Towson in their last non-conference contest before MAAC play begins. LIU opens conference action on September 29, hosting Fairfield at 4 p.m.
Two more non-conference games are included in the final stretch, as LIU will travel to take on Georgetown (Oct. 1), and host Davidson in the final home game of the Year (Oct. 29).
The Blackbirds will play three MAAC games on the road this year, at Rider (Oct. 8), Monmouth (Oct. 13) and Sacred Heart (Oct. 27). LIU Field will see two more MAAC contests in downtown Brooklyn before the season wraps up, as LIU will host Siena on October 15, and Bryant on October 21, with both games slated to begin at 12 p.m.
The 2017 MAAC Tournament, hosted by the top seed, will be played November 3-5. The top four seeds during regular-season play will participate, with the winner earning a berth into the NCAA Tournament.
