FARMVILLE, Va. – The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team fell to Longwood Saturday afternoon, 4-0. Sophomore goalie Molly Jannell made 13 saves in the loss.
 
Longwood would take 21 shots in the first half, scoring goals nine minutes in, and then five minutes later. The LIU defense would hold the Lancers scoreless for the next 20 minutes, coming into the halftime break down 2-0.
 
The Lancers scored two goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half to take a 4-0 lead before LIU would start to get an offense mounted.
 
Sophomore Madi Cook had a shot blocked at the 64-minute mark, and two minutes later, Eveline Gielisse had a shot blocked as well. Sophomore Lydia Trout would fire a shot just 40 seconds later that went wide. The Blackbirds ended the game with a penalty corner and a shot by Gielisse that we blocked again at the 70-minute mark that ended the game in favor of the home team.
