BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team will open the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference this weekend on LIU Field, hosting Fairfield this Friday, September 29 at 4 p.m. The Blackbirds (0-9) are in search of their first win this season, and a hot start to the conference slate.

SCOUTING THE STAGS
Fairfield comes into the weekend with a 2-7 overall record, having notched wins over Hofstra and UMass Lowell. The Stags have had a series of close losses coming into tomorrow's game. The team's last three games against Villanova, Cal and Dartmouth have only been lost by a combined four goals.
Senior forward Andrea Soler is the team's top point scorer so far, with four goals and an assist, while senior Jacklyn Gallagher, freshman Emma Matlach and junior Sam Giordano all have two goals so far this year. Senior Hannah Pike leads the team in assists, with three.
