STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. --- The LIU Brooklyn track and field teams continued their 2018 indoor schedule this weekend by competing at the NYC Gotham Cup at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

TOP PERFORMANCES
LIU earned three total victories between both squads - two on the women's side and one with the men. Junior Shantae McDonald's season-best 24.97 in the 200 meters gave LIU its lone individual victory of the meet and the top spot on the NEC performance list. Each team also won their respective 4x400 Meter Relay: the men's quartet of junior Deshawne Bunion, junior Braylon Wilkerson, freshman Justin Brown and junior Logan Jones took the crown in a NEC-leading and IC4A-qualifying time of 3:15.88 and the women's race was won in 3:54.49 by the group of junior Cayla Coleman, junior Eugenie Hue, McDonald and junior Zaahira Deboise (second in the NEC).

MEN'S RESULTS
  • Sophomore Sean Sinclair was 4th overall in the 60 meters with a time of 6.96, the Blackbird men's lone top-five performance of the meet.
  • Top-10 efforts were produced by juniors Caleb Williams (6th in 60 meters - season best 7.00) and Clinton Belle (7th in shot put - 46-7.50/14.21m).
  • Sewell led four other Blackbirds with top-20 showings, placing 11th in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 49.89. The mark is 5th in the NEC behind four other LIU runners. WOMEN'S RESULTS
  • Hue and sophomore Taylor Parker finished in the top-five of their individual events: Hue was the runner-up in the 1000 meters with a 2:57.38 mark that trimmed mover than two seconds off her personal best and school record of 3:00.25 from the Seahawk Shoot on December 8, 2017. Parker finished the shot put in third place after logging a toss of 43-9.00 (13.33m)
  • Freshman Toni Glatz (6th in 200 meters - 25.57; 3rd in NEC), freshman Ashley Blackwell (9th in 60 meters - 7.91; 6th in NEC), and graduate transfer Sarah Northup (10th in 3,000 meters - 10:58; 14th in NEC) each ran top-10 races and season best times.
