Women's Basketball | Jan 24 | Petty-Evans Named NEC Co-Player of the Week BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- Graduate transfer Denisha Petty-Evans has been named the Northeast Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday afternoon. Petty-Evans, who shared the award with Saint Francis U. guard Jessica Kovatch, averaged 28.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 60% from the field, 56.3% from three-point range, and a perfect 100% from the line in a pair of road games against Bryant and Central Connecticut State. The Bridgewater, N.J. native scored a career-high 27 points against Bryant, going 10-for-14 from the floor, 4-for-6 from three, and 3-for-3 from the line while adding three rebounds, three assists and three steals. She followed that performance by surpassing her career with a 29-point showing against CCSU. Petty-Evans upped her shooting numbers against the Blue Devils, going 11-for-21 from the field and 5-for-10 from distance. The award is the second NEC weekly honor of the season for Petty-Evans (November 20) and the fourth overall for the Blackbirds, with freshman Jeydah Johnson picking up a pair of NEC Rookie of the Week awards.
