BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The LIU Brooklyn women's soccer team will head across the Hudson River to Teaneck, N.J. to take on Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, Oct. 12 (4 p.m.), before hosting their final home match of the season against another NEC foe, Central Connecticut State on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 3:30 p.m.
BLACKBIRDS OVERVIEW
LIU is looking to get back in the win column on the road on Friday. Blackbirds senior Marian Awad (7 goals, 14 points) still stands tied as the second leading goal scorer and is third in points in the Northeast Conference. She is also continuously climbing the LIU records books with only a few games left. The Haifa, Israel native is currently 10th all-time at LIU in points (34), sixth in goals (16) and fourth in shots with 163, which is only 16 away from the school record. Her classmate, Aline Allmann, who has started six games this season, stands fourth all-time in saves with 215 entering this weekend.
KNIGHTS OVERVIEW
FDU (4-7-3, 2-1-1 NEC) is riding a two-game win streak, following conference wins over Robert Morris and Bryant. FDU, who is the defending regular season NEC champions, are led by Viktorija Miseljic with four goals (ten points) and Elman Kolenovic, who has four assists on the season. Amanda Fitzgerald is the Knights' top goalie with 63 saves and a 1.16 goals against average on the season.
BLUE DEVILS OVERVIEW
CCSU (10-1-2, 4-0 NEC) is leading the NEC with an unblemished record. The Blue Devils will face Bryant at home of Friday, before coming to Brooklyn for Sunday's matchup. Charlotte Maurer tops the team in goals with seven (tied with Awad) and has 15 points. Right behind her is Danielle Pearse with 13 points (five goals, three assists). Keeper Ashley Cavanaugh leads the league with a 0.53 goals against average and has nine of the team's wins with her between the pipes.
