BROOKLYN, N.Y.—The LIU Brooklyn women's golf team completed play at the first Battle of Brooklyn in a duel with St. Francis Brooklyn at Dyker Beach. The Terriers played host to the event that consisted of five head-to-head match-ups in which the Blackbirds swept the field.
In the first match-up, junior Aida Gonzalez led the Blackbirds by shooting 82 (+10) to capture the win against St. Francis Brooklyn's Stephanie Stuto. Her opening round score would hold as the low-round of the day in the ten participant field. Senior Sara Ciliberto followed suit behind Gonzalez's score, 85 (+13), while junior Rebeca Pardos finished one stroke after 86 (+14). Both upperclassman claimed wins on the day.
Freshman Ashlee Garrett fired 87 (+15) in the second match-up of the day to earn the win against Terrier's Morgan Casella. Rounding out the Blackbird's sweep was Freshman Lexi DeLorimiere, taking the victory over Sara Monckton of St. Francis Brooklyn.
NEXT UP: The LIU women's golf team will conclude their fall season at the Lehigh Invitational this weekend (October 20th- October 22nd) in Bethlehem, PA.
