MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team won their ninth-straight game Friday afternoon, beating Robert Morris, 1-0, to stay unbeaten in the Northeast Conference, and improve to 10-3-1 on the season.
The Blackbirds would get on the board in the 11
th minute of the game. Junior Guiseppe Barone passed the ball to the right corner, where
Filip Nordström was cutting. The senior crossed the ball into the box, where it deflected off of
Romario Guscott and right to junior
Marius Koss, who was waiting unguarded on the left side of the 18. He fired a shot to the back right corner of the net past RMU's keeper, and the Blackbirds were on the board, 1-0.
The Colonials would keep the pressure on for the remainder of the game, as the two teams combined for 25 shots in the game. Robert Morris keeper Winter Fondi made five saves to keep the Blackbirds from getting any more points on the board, while freshman goalie
Sam Ilin had three saves in the shutout win, his second of the season.
Up next for LIU is a game against Saint Francis University, who currently sit in second place in the NEC standings. The Blackbirds will take on the Red Flash, Sunday, October 21 at 2 p.m.
