VESTAL, N.Y.-- The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team finished its third tournament of the fall season at Binghamton/Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational Monday evening. The Blackbirds bettered their opening round score by two strokes to conclude the competition in 13th place, with a team score of 604 (301-303).
Leading the way was senior George Helsby, who carded a five-over 149 (75-74) in the two day event. He finished tied for 30th overall in the competitive field. Two strokes back at seven-over 151 was freshman Kyle Underwood, who finished tied for 42nd place. Senior Daniel Reale jumped up the leader board nine spots after carding a 75 in round two to finish 10-over 154 (79-75) to tie for 55th. Both sophomore Manuel Sosa and freshman Abelardo Yepez carded a 12-over 156 to round out the LIU scoring group.
Sophomore Jayden Brown's individual run concluded with a score of 150 (75-75), landing him in a tie for 37th place. Freshman Vincent DiCosimo also competed individually for the Blackbirds, finishing with a two-day score 181 (92-89).
The tournament hosts Binghamton took both the team and individual title. Bearcats player Justin Lane won the individual event at five-under 139, while Binghamton University finished with a team total of 562 (277-285).

The Blackbirds will head to Hampden, Mass. for their second to last tournament of the fall season at the UCONN Invitational from October 6th to October 9th.
